Help I'm A Bad Foodie!!!...A Sneak Peek into My Refrigerator

We all know in this economy no one can afford to buy groceries , never use a majority of them and then throw it away.

Well readers that is exactly the situation here...I Krystel aka Army Wife am a "Food Waster" I buy a carton full of groceries use some and never get to the rest in time. Part of the problem stems from the fact that hubby is deployed and while I do plan my dinner menu for the week , sometimes I do not stick to it or frankly I am to lazy to make full course meals everyday. The kids and I tend to live off nuking food as well as stuff that can be thrown in the oven.

Take a look at my situation below and feel free to offer your commentary!

  1. I do the same thing when ever my hubby is gone!! Its so hard to cook for just me and the kids espically when they are super picky!! I tend to let them eat whatever they want when my hubby is gone!!

  2. Wow girl..obviously the one big thing is to use what you have in your fridge.

My advice is to clean your fridge. Type a list of things you keep in your fridge on a regular basis, laminate it, glue a magnet to it and put it on your fridge. When you run out, mark it and add it to your grocery list (keep one of those on your fridge as well).

Also, I know you are limited on space but try to keep like things in the same part of the fridge.

Do you shop with a list or do you guess..make a list before going shopping and stick to it! (also eat before you go shopping so you don't buy random things that look good).

I think the key here is to obviously cook more (I don't need to tell you that, you mentioned it a few times in the video OR decide you are going to eat out. Trust me I understand about not cooking while the hubs is deployed. During my husband's last deployment, I only shopped for the essentials like milk, eggs, bread and snacks because I knew we were going to eat out more. I just budgeted our dinners out which kept me from doing unnecessary food shopping and wasting food.

    Good luck!

  3. @Korrie Thank you so much for letting me know I am not the only that kinda lets the kids eat as they please when the hubby is away lol.

@TheAlbrechtSquad Your advice is absolutely great and I have already started by using by moving my dry erase board by the fridge for this reason.
Also the idea about budgeting even if where gonna eat out more then often is a great idea. It will make me not feel guilty for spending lol.

Thanks for stopping by please come again!

i have a bad habit of buying packs of cheese when i still have some and throwing away eggs....never had that prob before coming to hawaii but i have yet to see them sell half dozen carton of eggs here...its much harder when the hubs is away
